Free Checklist: Optimizing Your Website & Social Media

There's so much I want to share with you this week! I've tried to keep it simple. There are three important things that I want you to do:

  1. Go to your website, look at your home page, your "about us" page, and your "contact" page and make sure the information is up to date. It doesn't hurt to take a peek at all of the other pages too and make sure information isn't outdated, irrelevant, or inaccurate.

  2. If you're using Instagram to market your business, I want you to take a look at your profile bio. Ask yourself, "would I follow this page?" Make sure it clearly says who you are, what you do, where you're located (or what areas you serve) and why someone should follow you.

  3. Same for Facebook. Go and visit the "About" section of your page and make sure the information is up to date. You should also see a new section called "Our Story." If you haven't filled this out yet, you can add a longer description for your business as well as a photo. Also, take a moment to update your banner image and make sure your most important post is pinned to the top of your business page.

Now, on to the show.

I've created a few resources this week to help you along. Download the Website & Social Media Update Checklist. You'll find some basic guidance for what sections to focus on (because you've only got so much time) as well as suggestions for how frequently you should be updating and/or posting on your website, blog, and social media.

Facebook and Instagram are the two big platforms for most of my clients and that's what I've concentrated on, but if you've got time and are willing to try something new, you may consider adding Twitter, Pinterest or LinkedIn to the mix. If you already have these accounts, you might benefit from my suggestions on how often to post and content ideas.

Bonus!

I also included a page in the checklist on hashtags. This is mostly for my Instagram lovers out there, but hashtags also work on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. I have created a short list of hashtag ideas grouped into categories: popular, broad, specific, and targeted. Hopefully this will help you generate some new ideas and new followers!
